The first is my bike, the naked R 1200 R. The second bike is the very fair(ed) R 1200 RT. Underneath all of those beautiful clothes the RT is almost the exact same bike as the R. I've test ridden the RT and the air flow is amazing. Your hands sit in a pocket of still air behind the rear view mirrors and when the movable windscreen is fully extended there is zero wind. It's pretty amazing.
Take all of that wind protection away and what do you get? My bike. The R 1200 R. The wind control is minimal. Very minimal. I've got a full face helmet so that helps, but for sure, two weeks and 7000 miles will be a test on me physically.
Plus, the RT has a much more comfortable seat and the biggest thing is that the RT has cruise control. Ahhh cruise control. I do wish I had that! My wrists are going to take a beating on this trip (well, my right wrist at least).
My panniers are the same as the ones on the RT except they're not color matched (they're black). And I have the same top/tail rack as the RT, which I've added and you can't see in this photo.
Gawk. Gawk away. Ahhhhhhhhhh.
