One thing I didn't mention in the last post was that at the end of yesterday's ride I became extremely depressed. I began thinking about my first day of the trip, and how I really really didn't want to go to Las Vegas. I'm just not a Vegas guy. As a matter of fact I had convinced myself that my trip didn't really start until I left Vegas and headed into Utah.
Well that's a really shitty way to start a trip.
I was going to Vegas because The Skeptics' Guide To The Universe (my favorite podcast) was having a meet and greet dinner. Last summer I met the cast at their summer bash in Brooklyn NY. This summer I was going to make a second meeting with them and I was really excited about it. I was also really excited about staying with my cousin Chris.
But I was really really unexcited about going to Vegas my first night.
Well fortune has shined upon me. My best mate Pierce is back in Phoenix after a year living in Singapore. What a perfect first destination! Pierce loves motorcycles and adventure, so having him be part of my trip is really an honor. Plus, Pierce is most probably moving to Singapore full time, so must seize the opportunity to see him when I can.
But there's one more thing.
Every time I visit Pierce we go Karting. Usually at the little pay and play tracks in shitty little gas karts. This time we're going to settle the score proper with a trip to the Bob Bondurant Karting School.
I.E. We're not fucking around. I've had the upper hand in the past at the karting game, but Pierce reckons he's got my number at this track.
Some serious shit is going down in Phoenix on June 20th 2008. Win or lose, some serious grudges are going to be settled and laid to rest that day.
If I were you... I'd stay tuned.
