I've never driven cross country. I've been back east loads of times now, and I've done a ton of car touring on the west coast covering extensively all of the states east of Colorado and Texas, but I'm bored with southern California. When I take off for a ride on my motorcycle, it basically feels like there are no routes I haven't already done. So I'm going to ride coast to coast taking a northern route across and a southern route back.
Two things that really interest me on this trip are Canada and the midwest. I've seen the east coast and the west coast, I'm really interested in checking out the middle states like Nebraska, Kansas, and Indiana. Everyone tells me it's boring and that I should really avoid those states, but I really want to experience it once for myself. So I'll see the midwest going across, but I'm also taking a more northerly route to see part of Canada.
On the way back I'm heading pretty much straight through the middle and I'm going to explore the south end of the Rockies (in the Silverton and Durango) area, and also the southwest.
I'll chronicle my preparation and the trip here. So stay tuned.
